Shalford Football Club has entered into formal school-club agreements with Broadwater School and Guildford County School. These agreements, which are backed by the Mid Surrey School Sport Partnership, will facilitate the development of close ties between the school's Year 11 football teams and the Shalford Youth Academy which focusses on the development of young players aged 16-19 years old.
The club's staff are now gearing up to deliver targeted coaching sessions within the two schools who will in turn recommend Shalford FC to the most promising players in their charge.
Mr Rudman described the agreements as "an exciting step in the development of the club and our links with the local community". He added: "We're building for the future here and while our Academy is already widely recognised as providing an ideal environment for the development of local young players we are obviously delighted that our set-up is now also going to be actively promoted by two of the biggest schools in the area".
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
